Understanding Driving Causes of Bridge Replacement
The main objectives of this research are to find the reasons for premature bridge replacements in Minnesota and understand the cost impact of replacing bridges sooner than originally planned. Extending the useful life of bridges through better design, construction, and management has been a shared effort of the bridge management and preservation community. The analysis has the potential to provide valuable input to bridge management efforts, as well as providing input for overall asset management goals and financial planning.
