Evaluating the Correlation between Slip Resistance and Skid Resistance of Pavement Markings at Crosswalks.
Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration follows current specifications that are based on the skid resistance of pavement marking vehicles at crosswalks but does not address the slip resistance for pedestrians. Current specifications are based on the skid resistance of Pavement Marking vehicles at crosswalks but does not address the slip resistance for pedestrians. The scope of this research is centered around British Pendulum (BPN) skid resistance testing. Since vehicle wheels and pedestrian heels have different slip ratings, this is an inquiry to determine if a correlation between skid resistance for vehicle wheels and pedestrians heels in a crosswalk can be made.
