Design and Evaluation of Dynamic Mobility Management Systems

The goal of this project is to design and evaluate a Dynamic Mobility Management System (DyMMS) to address traffic congestion, which leads to more fuel consumption, significant greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and poor air quality. The DyMMS framework will facilitate innovations in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) that will improve traffic safety, mobility, and energy consumption and emissions by managing the specific operations of each vehicle in the context of roadway infrastructure, traffic, emissions, energy utilization, and environmental conditions. This research research will develop the DyMMS framework and specifically combine the efforts of a real-time phase and timing signal algorithm with eco-driving to create an eco-traffic-signal algorithm in order to improve safety, mobility, and emissions at intersections; and a vehicle dynamic related strategy that will combine real-time vehicle trajectory optimization and the eco-traffic-signal algorithm.
