2290 Bond Behavior of Epoxy Coated Reinforcement Bars in Non-Proprietary UHPC
This project will develop non-proprietary ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) mixtures using Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) specified materials along with comparisons with other non-proprietary UHPC mixtures developed for bridge deck applications. Mixtures will be used to construct pull-out and beam-splice specimens for testing to investigate the effects of bar size and spacing, splice/embedment length, cover, fiber content, compressive strength, and bar coatings, including a new textured coating, on the bond strength between reinforcing bars and non-proprietary UHPC mixtures. A performance-based tension test using a notched specimen will be evaluated to determine applicability for use in design. Test results will be used to develop guidelines for splice design, with special emphasis on using UHPC in closure strips between reinforced concrete members.
