Relative Milling Method - Existing and Milled Relative Surface Model Development
This project will complete an evaluation to compare the differences between 3D models created with Bentley Open Roads Designer (ORD) to those created with Topcon’s design software. This evaluation will determine whether there are significant differences in the resulting designs between the two software platforms, which software provides the simplest process for creation of these models, which models provide the smoothest profiles for use with a milling machine, and whether a combination of the two software platforms (i.e., Bentley and Topcon) is recommended. A workflow will be generated to instruct designers on how to create 3D models for the Automated Machine Guidance (AMG) relative milling method, along with instructions on how to review these models for smoothness. State will generate a deployment road map (i.e., time frame to fully deploy the AMG relative milling method) upon successful determination of design workflows and model reviews for smoothness.
