Expanded Use of AVL/GPS Technology
The goal of this project is to help state transportation agencies optimize the value gained from the acquisition of automatic vehicle location (AVL)/global positioning system (GPS) units by deploying them year-round, rather than just in winter maintenance operations. The final report will help fleet managers demonstrate the return on investment that this technology can provide to transportation agencies. This project will build on prior knowledge developed through Clear Roads projects 14-01, Synthesis on GPS/AVL Equipment Used for Winter Maintenance, https://clearroads.org/project/14-01/ and 16-01, Utilization of AVL/GPS Technology: Case Studies, https://clearroads.org/project/16-01/.
