Evaluating Signal Performance Measures: A Longitudinal Analysis
The purpose of this research will be to conduct a longitudinal analysis of traffic signal performance in the state using ATSPM data by building upon the preliminary dashboards developed by Brigham Young University (BYU) and the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) MARK 1. The results of this research will be implemented on the ATSPM website by the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) Traffic Management Division to monitor and evaluate signal system performance over time and develop a high-level dashboard for use by UDOT leadership. The results of the research will allow staff to better understand how signalized corridors are operating and how they have improved (or declined) over time. The metrics developed can then be considered to determine general causes for both improvements and declines in service with solutions identified based on the results.
