Accumulated Winter Season Severity Index (AWSSI) Enhancements - Phase II

The AWSSI represent winter severity by a sum of two components, a temperature score and a snow score. The accumulation of this index during the winter as a time series depicts the character of the winter as it progresses. Winter road maintenance costs can be correlated to the AWSSI at the end of a season or during the season, allowing users to monitor their costs as they relate to a particular winter. In this project, the averages map of winter season AWSSI will be updated through the past winter season (2019-2020). The ability to download the daily values for the current winter will also be added. The AWSSI will be calculated for additional locations providing they have adequate daily temperature, snowfall, and snow depth area, and that data and locations will be added to the national map generated by the Midwestern Regional Climate Center.
