Development of Drone-Assisted Highway Mowing Operations Planning, Monitoring, and Verification Capabilities.
The main goal of the proposed project is to develop and test a drone-assisted workflow to be employed in planning, monitoring, and performance verification of maintenance tasks to provide Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) personnel with periodic status reports of work performed by mowing contractors. The proposed workflow would use images collected by drones that would be processed by algorithms developed by the research team in order to achieve progress monitoring goals of maintenance operations with a high level of autonomy.
