Crash Modification Factors (CMFs) for Contrast Pavement Markings on Light-Colored Pavement
The goal of this research project will be to develop crash modification factors for the use of contrast pavement markings on light-colored pavement. To attain this goal, the project has the following three objectives. First, gather the most up-to-date information regarding contrast pavement markings by doing a thorough literature review and conducting a nationwide survey of all state departments of transportation (DOTs) and other non-DOTs having jurisdiction over roadways. Second, quantify crash data to determine crash modification factors (CMFs) using appropriate statistical approaches based on quantity and quality of data obtained. Third, develop a benefit-cost analysis tool to assist decision-makers in future roadway planning projects.
