Validating AADT Estimates from Mobile Source Data
Using StreetLight data, this project aims to independently assess the current accuracy, and therefore the implementation readiness, of the Annual Average Daily Traffic (AADT) data derived from mobile devices. This project is an implementation of the 2017 MnDOT research, "Using Mobile Device Samples to Estimate Traffic Volumes." The AADT data will be validated against benchmark sources such as permanent continuous counter sites to determine data accuracy and precision. The project also aims to identify locations where there are continuous count locations that can be used in the study to evaluate the use of a variety data sources in a variety of settings.
