Road Salt Impact Assessment
The overall goal of this project is to inform public policy in Maine regarding winter road maintenance. The project will consider state and municipal funding, levels of service, environmental impacts associated with the use of road salt and other anti-icing agents, the impact of anti-icing agents on wells used for drinking water along roads maintained by Maine Department of Transportation, safety to drivers and how changes in weather may impact anti-icing activities.
