Evaluation of Fatigue on Snow Plow Drivers and of Aids to Assist Drivers in Recognizing and Dealing with Fatigue
During snow and ice events, MnDOT snow plow drivers are asked to work under challenging conditions over many consecutive days. The result is considerable overtime hours and an increased risk of fatigue. This increased risk of fatigue is a safety concern to snow plow drivers or other employees, who must be alert for long periods of time. Evaluating driver fatigue and assisting in management practices to minimize fatigue is a major opportunity to improve safety.
