Impact of Speed Limit Changes on Urban Streets
A recent change in Minnesota's speed limit law will likely generate increased interest in using posted speed limits to manage vehicle speeds, especially on urban roads. This project will use the change in speed limit law as an opportunity to study the effect of speed limit changes on vehicle speeds, including a before/after study of how changes in speed limits affect vehicle speeds. This information will be used to develop guidance on when speed limit changes are likely to achieve the desired effect.
