Assessing Pavement Markings for Automated Vehicle Readiness

As automated vehicle technology advances, many manufacturers are relying on pavement markings to assist with navigation. In today's vehicles, lane keep assist is a standard feature that uses cameras to detect lane lines. It is currently unknown if Minnesota's pavement marking standards are ready for these advanced automated vehicles features. The goal of this project is to determine if pavement marking standards need to change to support automated driving systems and human drivers.
