Evaluation of Roadway High Mast Tower Lighting
This project will develop alternative designs for high-mast lighting systems and evaluate these systems in terms cost, required technology, and maintenance while also considering visibility requirements and changes in driver behavior on roads where these systems are implemented. The specific objectives are as follows: develop alternative hardware options (e.g., luminaires and poles) and alternative raising and lowering systems for high-mast installations; develop and install alternative high-mast lighting designs considering costs, light level, and maintenance; and assess the performance of alternative designs in terms of photometric performance, response of human drivers, maintenance requirements, and cost.
