Technical and Financial Feasibility Study for Installation of Solar Panels at IDOT Owned Facilities

The State of Illinois has a mandate to acquire 25% of its energy from renewable sources by 2025. IDOT seeks to support this goal by developing solar projects on its facilities and extensive land assets. This project aims to determine whether solar development is administratively feasible considering procurement and solar siting on IDOT properties, determine whether solar on IDOT properties is technically and economically feasible, and to provide guidance on site selection for future solar projects while developing an overall strategy for moving forward with solar project development at IDOT.
