SPR-4439: Guidelines for Evaluating Safety Using Traffic Conflicts: Proactive Crash Estimation on Roadways with Conventional and Autonomous Vehicle Scenarios
The primary objective is to make safety management more proactive by allowing the current benefit-cost analysis to be applied to crashes predicted to occur based on the observed traffic conflicts. The new approach will be useful in safety audits and for responding to future changes in road safety brought by emergence of new technologies.
