Investigation of No. 10 Screenings for Subgrade Soil Improvement
The objective of this research is to study a matrix of several sources of #10 "dry" screenings with several marginal soil types at various mixture rates, and determine engineering improvements in California Bearing Ratio (CBR), density, plasticity reduction, drainage characteristics and resilient modulus. The study would include a literature review, state DOT survey, laboratory studies, and pilot projects after the laboratory work. A special provision will be developed providing guidance on use of screenings to improve poor subgrade conditions.
