Curve Safety Improvements Using Mobile Devices and Automatic Curve Sign Detection (Ph. I)
The objective of this research is to develop and critically assess a method that integrates low-cost mobile devices and previously developed artificial intelligence to establish a live sustainable curve sign inventory. The proposed method will cost-effectively improve Georgia Department of Transportation's (GDOT’s) current manual curve sign inventory and enable GDOT to establish a live sustainable curve sign inventory. It will, also, enable GDOT to identify and replace curve signs in a proactive, timely, and systematic way that improves Georgia’s curved road safety.
