Clear Roads II: High Performance Blade Evaluation
This new Clear Roads project will maintain its focus on advancing winter highway operations nationally through practical, practice-ready research related to materials, equipment and methods. State departments of transportation are aggressively pursuing new technologies, practices, tools, and programs to improve winter highway operations and safety while maintaining fiscal responsibility. The primary objectives for this research are (1) assess multiple plow blades designed for large-scale winter operation applications. The blades that are to be tested will include high-performance blades and standard blades for comparison. (2) develop a standard test protocol for evaluating and selecting blades. This method will be used in this research and should be used for future research.
