Highway Geometrics and Noise Abatement Decision

The selection of a noise abatement strategy requires a systematic approach considering a range of indices such as roadway geometric, materials, and environmental characteristics which could contribute to the traffic noise level of a roadway. An alternative preference screening matrix could assist SHA on effective decision making in a noise abatement project. The primary objective of this study is to develop a decision-making tool that considers both the engineering (roadway geometric, materials and abatement type) and economic features for low-cost, effective and feasible noise abatement-type selection.
