Optimizing Asphalt Mixture Designs for Low-Volume Roads of Minnesota
The study will first conduct a literature search and an online survey to explore the existing mixture design practices in Minnesota and other nearby cold climate states. Then with the aid of field visits, distress survey, field core collection, and a large-scale laboratory testing, a guideline will be developed for designing asphalt mixtures for low-volume roads. The study will suggest a "go to" mixture design including the recommendation on the minimum effective binder content (Pbe) for low-volume roads of Minnesota.
