Investigation of Low Visibility Related Crashes in Florida

The objectives of this project are to: (1) Collect the most recent fog/smoke crash data from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Crash Analysis Reporting Systems (CARS) and/or Signal Four Analytics (S5A). (2) Collect the relevant network and zone data to identify hotspots. (3) Identify fog/smoke crash hotspots at the macroscopic level using Kernel Density Estimation (KDE) and/or other methodologies. (4) Identify fog/smoke crash hotspots at the microscopic level (i.e., segment, intersection, and ramp). (5) Summarize the hotspot identification results.
