Transportation Research Synthesis: Involving the Visually Impaired Public in Project Decision-Making

A Transportation Research Synthesis (TRS) is a type of literature review that synthesizes technical and/or policy information on a specific research topic. It typically includes a summary of completed and in-progress research on a subject and may also report on practices used in other states. Through this contract, CTC & Associates will explore best practices for assessing the transportation-related needs of the visually impaired populace and involving them in decisions related to fulfilling these needs on upcoming MnDOT projects. A survey or interviews will be conducted to probe state DOTs, Metropolitan Planning Organizations, and Regional Development Commissions that have done substantial work regarding how they assess the transportation priorities of the visually impaired across relevant offerings (pedestrian, transit, light rail, etc.).
