Airport Passenger Terminal Design Library—UPDATE to ACRP WebResources 2

Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP) Project 07-15 created an electronic resource library known as ACRP WebResource 2 that provides a web-based library of various ACRP and non-ACRP documents related to airport passenger terminal design. WebResource 2 was put into use in August 2017, but has not been updated since then. It is important to keep WebResource 2 updated with new airport passenger terminal design documents and to update its functionality and usefulness over the next 3 years.  The objective of this research is to update and maintain ACRP WebResource 2 by providing the following: (1) Recommendations for improvement of the internal and external search capabilities (see Special Note E). This includes, but is not limited to: (a) Grouping the documents by common topics (e.g., those contained in ACRP Report 25); (b) Introducing the ability to search by popular tags; and (c) Improving the search engine optimization (SEO) of the documents.    (2) A process for keeping the WebResource 2 current with ACRP and non-ACRP related documents.   (3) Update and maintain the content of the WebResource 2 over the next 3 years, to include the abstracts and an index of new ACRP and non-ACRP research documents and guidelines related to airport terminal planning and design. Note: Examples of non-ACRP related research include terminal planning and design standards and documents published by IATA, FAA, TSA, ICAO, ACI, and others. (4) A mechanism for users to suggest new documents to include in the WebResource 2.   (5) A determination of which of the related ACRP documents need updating or consolidating—if updates or additional research is needed, create new research problem statements for future consideration (see Special Note B). The targeted audiences of this research are airport practitioners, including airport staff, planners, engineers, architects, consultants, developers, financial planners, airline facilities personnel, academicians, and students. Task descriptions are intended to provide a framework for conducting the research. The ACRP is seeking the insights of proposers on how best to achieve the research objective. Proposers are expected to describe research plans that can realistically be accomplished within the constraints of available funds and contract time. Proposals must present the proposers' current thinking in sufficient detail to demonstrate their understanding of the issues and the soundness of their approach to meeting the research objective. This research will be conducted in multiple years in a firm fixed-price agreement. It is expected that the following tasks will be accomplished within the timeline indicated below. The following tasks shall be reviewed and approved by ACRP prior to implementation: Year 1 - Task 1. As described in part 1 of the Objective, review and demonstrate suggested improvements of the WebResource 2 within the first 6 months of the contract.  Task 2. Prepare the following: (a) a recommended process for keeping the WebResource 2 current with ACRP and non-ACRP related documents; (b) a list of additional documents for inclusion, and (c) a mechanism for users to suggest new inclusions to the WebResource 2. Task 3. Update the content of WebResource 2 with new ACRP and non-ACRP documents related to airport terminal planning and design. Task 4. Assess and determine which of the related ACRP documents need updating or consolidating. If updates or additional research is needed, create new research problem statements for future consideration. Task 5. Prepare and deliver a webinar providing instruction on how to use the WebResource 2, including search tips.   Task 6. Prepare an interim report that describes work done in early tasks with an updated work plan for remaining tasks. Year 2 - Task 7. Identify and update the content of WebResource 2 with new ACRP and non-ACRP documents related to airport terminal planning and design.  Task 8. Develop a method for testing and assessing the effectiveness of the SEO of the WebResource 2. Year 3 - Task 9. Identify and update the content of WebResource 2 with new ACRP and non-ACRP documents related to airport terminal planning and design.  Task 10. Assess and determine which of the related ACRP documents need updating or consolidating. If updates or additional research is needed, create new research problem statements for future consideration.
