Evaluation of Freight and Transit Signal Priority Strategies in Multi-Modal Corridor for Improving Transit Service Reliability and Efficiency

The primary objective of this research is to develop a strategy and guidelines to plan, design and implement a Freight Signal Priority (FSP), in order to improve Freight mobility, sustain good transit service, and minimize congestion on an arterial network with the consideration of the simultaneous application of FSP and Transit Signal Priority (TSP). A concept of operations will be developed for the implementation and operations of the FSP and dealing with the coexistence of FSP and TSP at the same time on an arterial network and the influence that they exert on each other to achieve an efficient operation of the whole network. The effectiveness of the newly developed criteria will be evaluated suing an advanced simulation platform for the proposed case studies in Florida.
