Surveying Non-Motorized Travel Behavior at Grade Rail Crossings

The project objective is to: 1) conduct an inventory of existing built-environment and transportation system conditions surrounding approximately 30 fixed-rail transit stations in Salt Lake County. 2) Identify geometric design, signal, or built-environment characteristics that may inadvertently be inhibiting pedestrian and cyclist safety in accessing or exiting the areas surrounding rail transit stations. 3) Conduct an analysis of pedestrian and cyclists travel behavior at grade rail crossings and provide recommendations for maintaining or improving non-motorized safety.
