Estimating Soil Pressure against Unyielding Surfaces
The objective of this research will be to investigate the resulting earth pressure coefficients derived from an approved MSE wall configuration, where the MSE wall reinforcement is tied to an unyielding structure, for two states of soil density. Tying one side of the reinforcement to any unyielding structure will prevent minor wall deformations in the yielding MSE wall (MSE panels on one side will be tied into University of Florida's (UF's) Strong Wall to provide unyielding structure). The outcome of the research can then be used to adequately address design methodology and earth pressure coefficients for earthen fill compacted behind unyielding structures.
