Field Implementation of the Vertical In situ Permeameter (VIP)
The primary objective of this research will be to implement VIP field testing throughout the state of Florida and further validate developed test method. This will include testing the probe in all 7 FDOT districts and along the turnpike. From testing in all 8 locations, variable soil and field conditions will be encountered that will provide a better understanding of the probes capabilities. Secondary objectives will include confirming/updating the shop drawings provided within FM 5-614, fabricating 8 probes and falling head vessels to distribute amongst the districts, and developing an instructional video for VIP training purposes and to promote the use of the newly developed test method.
