A Data-Driven Safety Analysis Framework for the Beaumont District

The Performing Agency shall develop a process that integrates data driven and evidence-based safety analysis into the design and operations of state roadways within the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Beaumont District. The framework is intended to be a model that could be adapted and utilized in other TxDOT districts to assist decision makers as they determine viable roadway safety investments and enable incorporation of safety analyses directly into the design process. There are three basic elements of the data-driven framework: A. The identification of roadway segments and intersections with the greatest potential to reduce crashes and the development and evaluation of potential safety treatments. B. The correlation of prevalent crash types with specific roadway features to allow the development and evaluation of systemic safety improvements. C. The integration of safety assessment directly into the project development process.
