Effectiveness and Costs of Roadside Shoulder Build-Up Treatments

Per Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) specifications, shoulder build-up using soil or asphalt millings requires the application of native seeds as an erosion control measure. The seeding process can be lengthy, expensive, and sometimes do not result in timely establishment of vegetation in drier area of the state. This project seeks to identify the most effective methods for shoulder build-up stabilization and invasive species control for different climate zones within the state.
