Development of Support Systems, Instructional Modules, and a Case Study for the Enhanced Driving Simulator at the Gator Tech Smart House

A group of interdisciplinary researchers have secured funds to enhance University of Florida's (UF’s) Driving Simulator into a state-of-the-art laboratory for studying human-vehicle interactions as a means to decrease traffic fatalities and to improve people’s mobility and quality of life. A critical component of enabling researchers to pursue these funding opportunities and successfully complete projects using the simulator will be the development of support systems for the lab and instructional modules to assist in training. In this context, the broad objective of this effort is to and draw upon information learned from a current project using the simulator to develop material for instructional purposes. Two primary modules will be developed – one focusing on the administrative requirements for pursuing a project using the simulator and the other on the basic use, functionality, and expandability of the simulator. The second of these modules will include a case study.
