SPR-4167: Synthesis of Autonomous Vehicle Legislation

Autonomous vehicle (AV) technologies are rapidly evolving and legislative responses to this technology have varies significantly, depending on the state. Currently 14 states and the District of Columbia have passed legislation related to AV, and two states have executive orders. The objective of this research is to identify and synthesize current state legislation related to AV. A second objective of this research is to facilitate engagement with the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) and other AV stakeholders. The results of this research will provide important information for decision makers as they develop a strategic plan for AV activities in Indiana.
