Two-tube Metal Rail Compliance Testing

The Manual for Assessing Safety Hardware (MASH) implementation date for all bridge railing designs to meet the requirements of MASH is December 2019. There is a need to re-evaluate commonly used bridge rails with respect to MASH Requirements. The purpose of this project will be to evaluate the Alaska 2-Tube Bridge Rail, Alaska Thrie-Beam transition, and Alaska W-Beam transition with respect to MASH requirements. The plan is to evaluate the existing Alaska 2-Tube rail design with respect to MASH TL-3 impact conditions. The purpose of this project will be to make design improvement(s) as necessary for the bridge rail and transitions and evaluate the performance of these designs using full scale crash testing with respect to MASH guidelines.
