Development of Guidelines for Ramp Metering Implementation and Performance Evaluation on I-12
The main focus of the proposed research is the development of guidelines for ramp metering implementation and performance evaluation along I-12, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The specific objectives are to evaluate the performance of the currently implemented ramp metering and queue override strategies on I-12 using recently collected traffic data, to evaluate the impact of the existing geometric conditions (number of lanes, auxiliary lane geometry, etc.) on ramp metering performance to examine the feasibility of several control solutions at congested ramp junctions, and develop guidelines for ramp metering implementation and performance evaluation in Louisiana and make final recommendations.
