Controlling Temperature and Shrinkage Cracks in Bridge Decks and Slabs
University of California, Davis (UCD) and San Jose State University (SJSU) will partner to study five factors of High Performance Concreter (HPC): Plastic Shrinkage, Plastic Settlement, Drying Shrinkage, Autogenous Shrinkage and Temperature Variation. UCD will do the modeling and SJSU will conduct the experimental work. UCD will use data taken from two box-girder bridges and run simulations on them. SJSU will conduct various concrete experiments to generate results for model input and validation.
