SPR-4109: Improvement of Stiffness and Strength of Backfill Soils through Optimization of Compaction Procedures and Specifications
The main goals of this project are the development of specific guidelines for effective compaction of backfill materials of different gradations and the modification of the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) specifications to include the vibration frequency, amplitude, moisture content and lift thickness required to compact in the field backfill materials of different gradations.
