Collecting and Using Pavement Condition Index Data In Airport Decisions

The collection of pavement condition data and the reporting of pavement condition index (PCI) are time-consuming and thus expensive. The data are used in a number of applications, including determining maintenance and repair. Such obstacles as aircraft operations may limit the ability to collect the data. The objective of this research is to identify best practices in collecting pavement distresses for use in the PCI.
