A Vision-based Traffic Monitoring System for Vehicle Detection and Vehicle Classification
The objective if this research study is to explore and develop a stand-alone vision-based traffic monitoring software prototype with graphic user interfaces that can count vehicles (detection) and characterize the type of vehicle on roadways (classification). A robust set of methodologies and algorithms for traffic monitoring will be identified to operate effectively under a variety of conditions. The system will be validated using video feeds collected by Connecticut Department of Transporation (CTDOT) with observed traffic characteristics and demonstrate the system for Connecticut application using a case study.
