Educating Idaho Teenage Drivers of the Dangers of Distracted Driving

This project will contribute to an increased awareness of the risks associated with distracted driving among teenage drivers improving the safety for all road users in Idaho. This awareness will be accomplished through education and outreach programs. An interactive driver-distracted presentation will be developed and tested. It will be used at high schools in Idaho to educate teenage drivers about the danger of distracted driving. The most effective short messages will be identified and tested so they can be implemented in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to influence the behavior of teenage drivers regarding distracted driving. The effectiveness of involving high school students in distracted-driving public campaigns in improving their awareness of the danger of distracted driving will be evaluated.
