IT Infrastructure Preparedness
During emergency response every second counts and communication is key to the success of emergency operations. Some of the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) maintenance stations could be used as Primary, Alternate, Contingency and Emergency backup locations for communication and information sharing and for a location that can be used to keep UDOT's essential functions running. The idea being, what would happen if one of the region headquarters or the complex buildings were damaged? Where would people work from, would they have communications, and would they be able to access the critical data needed in an emergency? It is critical to identify a few stations in each region as a backup command post that has direct connection, hardwired and wireless, to the Central data sources and individuals that aid in coordinated efforts during an emergency situation.
