Evaluation of Finite Difference Approach to Estimating Consolidation Settlement
The primary objective of this research project is to utilize the finite difference technique to evaluate and project consolidation settlement of highway embankments using magnet extensometer data during an actual construction project. The intent of this project is to demonstrate the use of the finite difference technique for estimating the time-rate-of-settlement for subsurface clay layers bound by a magnet extensometer. The construction project connected with this research is the Provo West Side Connector, located at University Avenue and I-15 in Provo, Utah.
