Mitigation of Cracking in Florida Structural Concrete

The main objectives of this project are as follows: (1) To conduct a laboratory testing program to evaluate the effects of incorporating shrinkage reducing admixture (SRA), polymeric microfibers (PMF), and aggregate compaction optimization (ACO) technique in ICC mixes in order to optimize the benefits of ICC in bridge deck and concrete pavement applications . (2) To field-test the application of ICC mixes in bridge deck application with and without the enhancement techniques of incorporating shrinkage reducing admixture (SRA), polymeric microfibers (PMF), and aggregate compaction optimization (ACO). (3) To field-test the application of ICC mixes in concrete pavement application with and without the enhancement techniques of incorporating shrinkage reducing admixture (SRA), polymeric microfibers, and aggregate compaction optimization (ACO). (4) To evaluate the cost-effectiveness of using ICC mixes with and without the enhancement techniques in bridge deck and concrete pavement slab applications.
