Environmental Impacts of Automated Vehicles

The proposed National Center’s white paper will focus on the environmental effects of automated vehicles. The white paper will provide a framework to understand the dimensions of the environmental effects of automated vehicles. It will synthesize the best research available on this topic, and will highlight important research gaps. It will make clear the link between research findings and policy implications. The most seminal and relevant reports on the topic will be reviewed. To the extent possible, the focus will be on peer-reviewed and/or publicly accessible analyses. Given that this is such a new research topic, the literature may be supplemented with expert interviews. Finally, the white paper will be accessible to an informed and interested, but non-technical audience.
