Examining the Characteristics of Fatal Pedestrian Crashes

The purpose of this project is to determine at a more detailed level the characteristics of fatal pedestrian crashes in Utah. To do this, the project will: (1) Create a database of all pedestrian fatalities that occurred from 2012-2014. (2) Acquire as much information about each incident as possible including crash report, witness statements, other notes from the scene, and any news reports made at the time. (3) Identify as many contributing factors for each incident as possible, including identifying major pedestrian, driver, and environmental contributions. (4) Identify any common themes or trends and create recommendations for mitigation and action
