Performance Based Operations Assessment of Adaptive Traffic Signal Control, RB09-016

This proposed study will provide an evaluation of the traffic adaptive signal system to be installed along SE 14th Street in Des Moines, IA. The research team will work with the adaptive system supplier to capture data for the evaluation thus eliminating hours of field data collection and also providing for a much more complete and longer time period of analysis. Given that this is the first project of a new Iowa Department of Transportation program, the timely results will highlight the benefits of such an investment and will serve as an important reference in consideration of the suitability and selection of similar projects across the state.
