Advancing Collaborative Planning among Economic Development Districts and State Departments of Transportation

This project, Advancing Collaborative Planning among Economic Development Districts and State Departments of Transportation, will strengthen partnerships among entities responsible for planning and implementing infrastructure improvements and economic conditions, to allow for better leveraging of investments and increased awareness and responsiveness to private sector needs. This project will advance State, metropolitan, regional and local transportation planning capacity building by targeting information to economic development district staff and state department of transportation staff to improve planning and collaboration. In addition, aspects of this work will address areas such as Freight Planning, as this project will include researching the capacity and practice of economic development districts and state departments of transportation to analyze shifting economic flows and private sector trends and economic forecasts. Planning and Environmental Linkages will also be addressed through the provision of resources regarding inclusion of community economic goals and economic analysis in transportation planning, programming, and implementation.
