High Speed Truck

The objective of this project is to develop detailed design requirements for a high speed bogie based on performance criteria appropriate for operating on existing North American railway tracks that are maintained to meet the requirements of both passenger and freight service and then to design, build, and test the bogie to evaluate the benefits of the improved design. The initial efforts of this project will concentrate on understanding the relationship between bogie design, track configuration, and irregularities. This will involve conducting a review of the existing bogie designs and literature for both tilt and non-tilt equipment and the tradeoffs of various bogie parameters to meet performance specifications.
