Common Performance Metrics for Airport Infrastructure and Operational Planning

The objective of this research is to establish a reference guide of common metrics developed from new or existing metrics for airport infrastructure and planning. The guidance should include information on how to interpret these performance metrics that can be used for analysis among airports, airlines, and air traffic control. Some metrics are used primarily in investment and infrastructure development in contrast to those used for ongoing assessment of operational performance. Interpretation includes practical application and demonstrating the relationship between common metrics. This reference guide will support airport-centric planning and operational initiatives and will be useful for airport operators and planners at a variety of airports/airport systems for improved efficiency and decision making. Airport-centric planning refers to master planning, operations, planning for maintenance, common gate use management, etc.
